Gentlemen take Polaroids -7:08… My current series of “Faux Polaroid” holiday snaps was inspired by Japan’s 1980 album “Gentlemen take Polaroids”.

The light went on, when I stumbled on this album cover. I had been looking for an idea to focus my holiday photography.

The layout of Polaroids, Square format, and the ability to add handwritten captions; combined with being able to add images taken on my canon 650d has proved an interesting combination. Though I find the term “faux Polaroid” a trifle pretentious probably“fake Polaroid” would be better. :-)

All images are taken on my Canon 650d or an iPhone. I use a combination of apps to process the images:

1. Photogene - basic processing and cropping. The gradients control is especially useful for adding dramatic skies.

2. Polamatic - to create the Polaroid frame and add the caption.

3. Iris - to add a polarising filter or other effects where necessary.

Everything is processed, and sent to Tumblr using my iPad 2.

Has anyone else got some interesting post processing ideas?
